History
One of the most elegant Alfa Romeo model variants of the 105 series cars is the Giuila GTC, a convertible version of the Giulia Sprint GT, constructed by Milanese coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera
With a total of 1003 cars built with just 100 cars in right hand drive specification, the GTC was an instant success and great fun to drive with its twin cam 1600cc engine, five speed gearbox and rear wheel drive
Between 1964-66 existing Giuila GT coupes were sent to the Touring factory where they removed the roof and added significant reinforcements to chassis to retain the rigidity of the coupe
This gorgeous UK supplied right hand drive example was first registered on 24th June 1965 to ‘Tower Cabinet Co’ of East Smithfields, London E1, finished in Bianco coachwork and registered EUU 130C
The subject of cosmetic restoration in 2016 and in 2018 the GTC was sent to marque exponents Alfaholics where an extensive mechanical enhancement programme was undertaken at a cost of GBP 62,000! This GTC now sports a fully rebuilt ‘fast road’ 1600cc engine with approx. 140bhp with polished, lightened shot peened conrods, forged pistons, race quality valve gear and billet cams, ported head and all blueprinted
Further enhancements included a ‘fast road’ stage 1 Alfaholics suspension package, brake system upgrade, axle rebuild, 6×14 Strada wheels, Bluetooth audio system and full retrim in very high quality leather amongst a host of other things
Without doubt one of the coolest Alfas of the period and seldom seen, this car is beautifully setup and a HUGE amount of fun to drive, from the induction noise of the open trumpets of its Weber carbs to the rorty exhaust note and its ‘go kart’ like handling, driving it becomes addictive very quickly!!
