History
This spectacular 512BB was ordered from Ferrari S.p.A SEFAC on the 4th February 1977 by Maranello Concessionaires Ltd in UK right hand drive specification, to be finished in Nero coachwork with VM3234 Beige leather, with a production date of June 1977
Copies of Ferrari internal notes on file show the 512BB was completed by the 26th May and delivered by lorry to Maranello Concessionaires at Egham, who immediately supplied the new car to H.R.Owen on the 9th June
By July the BB was sold to first owner fashion clothing retailer Vincci Ltd of 60 Jermyn Street, London W1 and by 1979 the Ferrari was in the hands of the second owner Mr John Ritblat, Chairman of the British Land Company Ltd, where it would remain until 2nd June 1982, with maintenance by HR Owen and Maranello Concessionaires
Between 1982-89 the 512BB was owned by Mr Michael Neilan Esq of Earlybird Enterprises Ltd who clearly enjoyed it, having covered approximately 18,000 miles throughout his ownership, supported by numerous service invoices and MoT certificates, almost all of which are from marque specialists Bob Houghton. During the early part of his ownership the cherished registration ‘512 DLP’ was assigned and would remain on the car for the following twenty-five years
In October 1988 the speedometer was replaced by Bob Houghton during routine maintenance with recorded mileage at 30,156, and by August 1989 the 512BB was sold to Mrs Foulston of Potters Bar where it remained for the next eleven years, serviced during that period by Maranello Concessionaires and DK Engineering until it was acquired by Mr David Cockbill on 14th July 2000, with mileage at c33,250 miles
Between 2010/11 the BB benefitted from a full cosmetic restoration by DK Engineering and was repainted in its original Nero coachwork and the interior completely re-trimmed in Tan leather and black inserts. Further mechanical refreshment was completed at the time by DK including engine out service and detail, brake rebuild etc
Acquired by the vendor on 9th February 2018 with total mileage at 47,668 miles, the 512BB has formed part of a private collection of European sportscars and used for high days and holidays, maintained regularly by GTO Engineering and Barkaways throughout his ownership
