This late production DB5 saloon was completed by the works on 3rd May 1965, originally finished in Fiesta Red coachwork with Beige Connolly hides and fitted with five speed ZF gearbox, optional heated rear screen and 3 eared hub caps
The build sheet documents the delivery to AM agent Cyril Williams on 29th December 1965, who then supplied the Aston to first owner, Captain Peter Lorne Mackie Campbell of Argyll, Scotland
First registered ‘CSB 251D’ on 1st January 1966 with the AM guarantee issued on the same day, factory records indicate the car returned to the works on 24th February 1972 and was fitted with a reconditioned engine at 42,350 miles. The DVLA record from 1973 denotes a colour change to Green where it gained flared wheelarches, a popular modification with AMOC club racers of the period
Acquired by the previous long term owner in July 1992 following an inspection by AM stalwart Ian Moss who later carried out various remedial work to the car, with further service work completed by AML authorised dealer Donaldson and Evans in Cheshire throughout the 1990s followed by Cross Street Garage, operated by the former service manager at Donaldsons when they ceased trading in 1997
Between 2007-2010 the DB5 was the subject of a comprehensive mechanical restoration by Aston Engineering, the Vantage specification engine fully rebuilt to 4.0L and dyno tested at 263bhp @ 5,700rpm
The gearbox and axle were rebuilt, suspension rebuilt and fitted with uprated Koni dampers, larger anti roll bar and full brake system rebuild. The body and metalwork restoration were undertaken by Haslams Body Repairs with photos on file documenting its bare metal repaint in Balmoral Green, the finished bodyshell then sent back to Aston Engineering for reassembly
Acquired by the late vendor from Aston Engineering in 2022, a noted overseas collector and historic racer, we are offering the DB5 on behalf of his estate. Supplied with comprehensive and well documented history, this tastefully upgraded DB5 goes like a rocket and is sensibly priced within the current marketplace
