1960 Aston Martin DB4 Series One

Originally supplied via the Aston Martin concession of St Helier, Jersey on 7^th January 1960, this early series one example was delivered in Desert White coachwork with Black Conolly hides and was optioned with fully chromed road wheels and Motorola radio

Sold to first owner E.A.Gilson of Wishing Well, L’Etaca, St.Cuen, Jersey, the copy of the original build sheet retained on file shows the second owner as D.A..Vetch of the Villa Veronique, Chemin De Moulin, St Quen Jersey

The build sheet also contains factory service notes from June 1965 with mileage listed at 37,326 detailing engine repairs carried out at Newport Pagnell, new chains and engine sump, new cooling system hose connections new plugs and distributor, carb clean, gearbox overhaul, front suspension rebuild with new shocks, new wheel cylinders, brake rebuild, new steering rack mountings and various other works, all carried out during its return visit to the factory

Accompanying the file is an extremely rare and original works order instruction card dated 20^th August 1959 issued to David Brown Industries Ltd and documenting the original specification with chassis number listed

According to a letter attached to the original buff log book held on file, the DB4 was repatriated to the UK on 29^th August 1968 and officially imported to the UK on 5^th September 1968, issued with UK registration 7480 WD, the plate the car carries to the current day

The buff log book shows the Aston was acquired by Peter Devine of Dagenham, Essex in September 1969 before it was later acquired by David Wootton of Eltham, London in September 1972. Additional previous owners included Ian Rogers of Peterborough in 1983, Howard Bell of Oakham in 1984, Brian Mather of Matlock in 1987 and Phillip Hunter in 1996 who retained the car until 2011 and invested a significant amount into the car and its restoration

The extensive historical file that accompanies the car shows the engine was rebuilt by Aston Engineering in 1999 to 4.2L with Cosworth pistons, unleaded cylinder head DB5 Valves and performs extremely well. Finished today in Aston Martin Racing Green, this first series of DB4 are highly desirable and this example does not disappoint
