According to the National Corvette Restorers Society certificate held on file, this sensational Split Window Corvette was officially produced by General Motors on the 25th October 1962 and delivered to supplying dealer Ferris Brothers Chevrolet-Buick dealership of Harvard, Illinois
Finished from new in desirable Black coachwork with Red interior and powered by the high performance 327/340HP engine, specified with power windows, four speed manual transmission with 3:55 Positraction differential and AM radio
The first seven years of the Corvette’s ownership are unknown but in 1970 the car was sold via Steamer Motors of Racine, Wisconsin to Mr Paul Goeffert of the same town who retained the car for a number of years before it was sold to Mr Roland Denman also of Racine, Wisconsin
By February 1973 the Corvette was acquired by Mr Al Goll of Sun City, Arizona, an employee of the local Chevrolet dealership. According to extensive notes held on file, Mr Goll began a frame off restoration shortly after he bought it, removing the body, blasting and painting the frame, rebuilding the engine, transmission and rear end. The body was repainted in nitrocellulose lacquer and reassembled. Mr Goll retained the car until 1984 before it was sold to finance a new business venture
The next owner was Mr Lyle Christiansen of Racine, Wisconsin who kept the Corvette from 1984-1986, using it sparingly before it was acquired by Mr Craig Cone of McHenry, Illinois on July 6th 1986. Mr Cone was clearly an enthusiast who completed further restoration work to the car before showing it a multiple concours events where it is understood to have won many trophies and was used as a model for the Hugo Prado 1963 poster
Later sold to Mr Ray Pasttl, Florida, on 12th February 1992, who continued to show the car with success and enjoyed the next decade of ownership before his passing in 2002, at which point it was inherited by his daughter Kristi Walker who subsequently sold the car to Mr George McCoy, Florida, in 2003
In November 2006 the car was re-acquired by former owner Craig Cone and eventually found its way the United Kingdom in late 2013, when it was purchased by the current British owner to join his personal collection of sports cars
